{"id":417,"date":"2009-02-22T19:56:52","date_gmt":"2009-02-22T19:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pixelbase.co.uk\/?p=417"},"modified":"2009-02-22T21:01:23","modified_gmt":"2009-02-22T21:01:23","slug":"this-week-in-sap-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.pixelbase.co.uk\/?p=417","title":{"rendered":"This Week In SAP (#8)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>traveling the mountains and valleys of SAP land, here are this week&#8217;s results:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This week&#8217;s big news was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.informationweek.com\/news\/services\/saas\/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=214502010&amp;subSection=Integration\">SAP&#8217;s acquisition<\/a> of cloud computing start-up Coghead. <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.zdnet.com\/Howlett\/?p=673\">Dennis summed it up best<\/a>, in my opinion.<\/li>\n<li>Now the other big news this week was\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/yojibee\">Anne<\/a><\/span><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/yojibee\">\u00a0Kathrine\u00a0<\/a><em><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/yojibee\">Petteroe&#8217;s<\/a> group opposing the new Terms Of Service (TOS) that the social media site Facebook tried to introduce. Within a couple of days her Facebook group grew to a staggering 100,000+ members, which got a mention in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/02\/19\/technology\/internet\/19facebook.html?ref=technology\">NYT <\/a>(in addition to numerous TV interviews!).\u00a0Anne is now officially the first SAP Mentor to appear on TV and in the future we all have to click our heels whenever we meet her. \ud83d\ude09<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li>IBM&#8217;s Vijay Vijayasankar didn&#8217;t quite make the cut for the news last week, so I include this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sdn.sap.com\/irj\/scn\/weblogs?blog=\/pub\/wlg\/13183\">interesting SDN blog<\/a> in this week&#8217;s roundup. I like real-world blogs such as this, as these contributions try to dig deeper than the marketing material fluff we are usually given. Vijay puts his fingers in the wounds. For example, who will be the first to implement this (skills?) and whether a graphical tool is really needed.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/weblogs.sdn.sap.com\/pub\/u\/251691332\">Marco ten Vaanholt <\/a>with an interesting view on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sdn.sap.com\/irj\/scn\/weblogs?blog=\/pub\/wlg\/13236\">Twitter and why it is not valuable for BPXers (and others)<\/a> &#8211; Marco is making some interesting observations, but claiming that some Twitter users are suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder is going a bit far. In the comments Natascha and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/oliver\">Oliver<\/a> sum up nicely my views in terms of value that Twitter can give to all users (SDN, BPX et al)<\/li>\n<li>Natural employee fluctuation is not enough: SAP will also need voluntary redundancies (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ftd.de\/technik\/it_telekommunikation\/:Jobabbau-SAP-baut-Stellen-auch-%FCber-Aufhebungsvertr%E4ge-ab\/476087.html\">FT Germany: Achtung, German!<\/a> &#8211; translation is <a href=\"http:\/\/translate.google.com\/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=de&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http:\/\/www.ftd.de\/technik\/it_telekommunikation\/:Jobabbau-SAP-baut-Stellen-auch-%25FCber-Aufhebungsvertr%25E4ge-ab\/476087.html&amp;prev=hp\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>SAP has now introduced<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sap-tv.com\/video.php?a=3997&amp;l=1\"> a book for children of its employees<\/a> explaining &#8220;mummy and daddy&#8217;s workplace&#8221; a little better.
